DISTRICT HIGHLIGHTS

CHOICE Class of 2020 Graduation

Due to the global pandemic, graduation was delayed, based upon student input, in the hopes that students would be able to have a traditional ceremony. Unfortunately, that was still not possible, so graduates were celebrated through a commencement with a drive up ceremony on Friday, September 18.

"
This has been a rough six months since schools closed down and the reality of the pandemic became more obvious. But today my spirits were lifted as I celebrated the graduates of the CHOICE class of 2020 with a non-traditional drive up ceremony. I am so proud of you all and I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with you all. You give me hope for the future. Congratulations class of 2020 -Stacey Anderson, CHOICE Principal

COMMUNITY

National Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the contributions made by Hispanic and Latino Americans.

Hispanic Heritage Month"Hispanics have had a profound and positive influence on America through their strong commitment to family, faith, hard work, and service. They have enhanced and shaped our national character with centuries-old traditions that reflect their many multiethnic and multicultural customs. National Hispanic Heritage Month, whose roots go back to 1968, begins each year on September 15th, the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico, Chile, and Belize also celebrate their independence days during this period and Columbus Day (Dia de la Raza) is October 12. The term "Hispanic" or "Latino" refers to Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race. "
